Week 17 - Picks

The last week of the season has not disappointed in game selections. Speaking for myself, I wasn't to sure about most of the picks for Sunday's games. How will the year begin? Only time will tell!  A couple of things are certain we all believe PHI, SF, NE, PIT and BAL will ring the new year in with a win! A couple of Sick Pick favorites have returned in CAR, DET, and TB, while DAL is a Sick Pick for only the second time of the season. This means the remaining 7 Games we are all going head to head. So this is it! Don't get scared now!

Week 16 - Results

Anthony!!!!! That's right, scream and shout it! Anthony gets his first win of the season! Pulling off a high scoring 13 points as well as the only Sick Pick of the week to come to fruition. Congrats Anthony! So now onto the last week of the Season, Playoff Points will be announced next week as well! Week 16 Results are below for your review.

Week 16 - Picks

Two more weeks left before the Playoffs...what do you mean Playoffs? Playoffs? Well they're right around the corner and this week is instrumental in developing who we will see there. Last week was upset city, so we are sure to see alert teams playing for their lives.  Wrap the holiday around in a nice bow and you have pretty drama! As for the players we only agree as a group that 5 teams will definitely win. Another 5 are Sick Picks, and the remaining 6 games declares war amongst the group! Get ready for Prettay, Prettay Drama! And as Unc Ant says, "Now It's Personal!!!!!!!!!!!!" He also says, "If my teams don't win on Saturday, there's Basketball on Sunday!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Week 15 - Results

In a weekend of upsets, I don't know how I should feel winning the week...but I'll take it. Jerome capitalized on one of the upset games, receiving the only Sick Pick win, which pushed him into second place for the week. Dante, Jaison and George rounded up third place for the week. As teams begin to take their playoff spots will the upsets continue? Only time will tell.  Also in the overall standings, note the three way tie in third place, prepare for a fight going down the stretch! The results are below for your review.

Week 15 Picks Are In! We are all for ATL, NYG, TEN, NO, NE and GB will they all make the playoffs? I don't know, but for the rest of the games we are going this way and that way. So prepare for another week that matters towards the standings. Sick Picks were sparse with only 5 for the entire week! So it's going to be one of those seesaw weeks! Week 14 - Results

At around 4:30pm on Sunday, I began to enter the 1 o'clock games totals. Upon finishing, I witnessed something for the very first time. Someone had earned a point for all 10 games played, so it wasn't any surprise that this same person won the week! Congratulations Dante!!! What a week!  He was 10 for 10 at one point, and scored an extra point for a Sick Pick! Jaison also shared the Sick Pick victory with Dante!  Everyone else did pretty well in probably the most craziest week of the season in regards to last second wins...however we couldn't compete with temporary perfection!

Okay, we have approached the last leg of the season! Has it made an impact on our picks? Maybe so, perhaps we know certain teams like the back of our hand now....we shall see because we have picked 7 games as a group! Will we go 7 for 7? Now on to the competitive games! Only 4 games have us going back and forth while the rest are Sick Picks!

Week 13 Results

Going to the chapel...and their going to get maarrrrieed!!! Oh wait, they already did that. I guess that is why it was so easy for them to win together! Congrats to Vanessa and Jaison on their shared win for week 13! Sick Picks were instrumental for Week 13, with one Sick Pick a piece, Anthony was able to score high for his second week straight, Unc Ant maintained his third place status, and Jamees was pushed into first place! Week 13 didn't disappoint, with upsets and clinches for playoff spots! So on to next week!

They say 13 is a bad luck number...but we all can't possibly get bad luck right? So I am interested to see who will shine this week! Sick Picks are few and far between, as we all jump on "Sure Things" and can't seem to make up our minds on games that show a bit more competitiveness.  But with a week called 13 some of us are rooting for the underdog and swinging on a Sick Pick or Two!  Last week was wild, and I have a feeling this week won't get any better! Week 12 - Results

It's a tie! Dante & George return as week champions with the high score of 14! George now joins Jerome & Jaison as a winner of three weeks! Dante received the only Sick Pick win of the week along with Anthony by successfully picking WAS to get the win over SEA. Everyone did fairly well with double digit points for the week.  The race is only getting tighter! Congratulations Dante & George, 14 is the third highest score of the competition and is not an easy feat! On to next week!

Thanksgiving week won't disappoint! You may add "a very good week of football" to your Things to be Thankful For List! Starting out with three very exciting games today! All but three players have at least one Sick Pick! And we seem to be heading towards some interesting scoring come week's end!

With the lead fluctuating from week to week and and the spread between all players getting tighter, this week will have another great impact.   Will Unc Ant prove to be right and rebound to make his comeback, will Jerome maintain the lead? There's a new Sheriff in town, and guess what he's the old Sheriff...congrats to Jerome with 11 points and the only Sick Pick of the week he has catapulted into first place.  Also sending congrats to Dante who also won the week with 11 points.  Vanessa and Jaison made it a couples duet as the only other players with double digits points with for the week with a solid 10.  Week 10 hit the rest of the players hard as the shockers continue to ensue! Week 9 -Results

Well, well, well, Vanessa broke all sorts of records week 9! She scored a record 16 points, receiving a turbo boost from her 4 Sick Picks which all counted for extra points! Talk about getting Sick with it...Congrats Vanessa for a mind blowing week, you need a thermometer for how hot you are..Ok I digress.  But only a shade, because like Daughter, like Father Unc Ant catapulted into first with another solid week earning 10 points along with George who is back on track! All I can say is what a week! And only fitting right before week 10 and playoff picks! Results are below for your review:

Playoff Preview

With the season passing its halfway mark, the playoffs are right around the corner. All players must submit their playoff picks with their week 10 picks. There are a only few teams that have clear playoff sights, so this step might prove to be difficult.  However, it's a great way to add a few extra points to your total. 

A couple of tips:

1. Make sure you look at not only what teams have done so far, but also who they will play in the remaining weeks and how you think they will do, before you complete your assessment.
2. Think about which team will most likely take first place in their division, but also who will get those wildcards (meaning that though they didn't win their division, they had a better record than the rest of the conference.)
3. Pay attention to this week's games, they may have a determining factor on who you place in the playoffs!
4. When assessing wildcards, it's about the numbers! Who will have records that will be good enough to place them in the playoffs! ****Special note, sometimes wildcard teams have better records than a winner of another division****

Below is an example of possible playoff picks.  You will need to highlight or list Six teams for each conference:

What I would like you to notice in the sample Playoff Picks below:

1. As in the AFC West, you don't have to pick who is in first place now, if you think another team will end the season in first place in their division, pick a team in second, first or even third.  Fourth might be stretching it.
2. The AFC & NFC East and North have two highlighted teams, this means that you believe the wildcards will come from those divisions.
3. You don't have to differentiate who is the division winner versus who is the wildcard.  If your six teams makes the playoffs, you get 6 points! Pretty simple!

Week 8 - Results

Last year's champ is back on top this week with 11 points! Congrats to Jerome for a successful week! Sick Picks had a huge impact this week, with Jerome, Unc Ant and Darleen capitalizing and gaining an extra point each! In weeks to come the games will continue to surprise, and at this rate playoff picks will be difficult. So stay up people we're only half way through the season, there are more surprises in store!

So the picks are in! Don't relax because it's going to be another exciting week! For the first time in weeks, there are at least 8 Sick Picks! And considering last week's shocker games...I'm sure some will be nicely rewarded. There are key games where there is no real stand out one way or the other, HOU vs JAC, CIN vs SEA and DAL vs PHI. Week 7 - Results

Last week was a doozy, I know I felt like Charlie Brown after being thrown a football from Lucy. Congrats goes out to Unc Ant & Jaison for winning week 7! They also were the only two to break double digits.  This is Jaison's second week in a row on top. Some good also landed George and Darleen's way, making good on their ATL Sick Picks!   As we get closer and closer to making our playoff picks, the choices are getting muddier. Take that with you, until next week!

The picks are in and the time to watch out for is 1:00pm. All the 1:00 games have a cause for tension. Prepare for madness! But don't worry you can pretty much relax after 4:15 except for one game where Darleen has dared to Sick Pick STL over DAL. Who know's Romo may Romo it...There are two other Sick Pick games to look out for DEN vs MIA and ATL vs DET. So get a nice breakfast, settle in for a light lunch and enjoy the 1:00pm games as your stomach twists and turns!

Week 6 - Results

Jaison, Jaison Bo Jaison Fee Fi Fo Jaison!!! JAISON!!!! Jaison is the big winner for week 6. Congrats to him!! He and Anthony cashed in big on their Sick Pick which was one of the most exciting games of the week, when SF took away DET undefeated season. 10 was the number of the week with more than half the group receiving 10 points. It was a pretty decent week for picks, let's see what happens next week. Will the placements continue to shift? I think it's inevitable!

Week 5 - Results

Awww toot toot....awww beep beep! Sorry, I had to toot my own horn this time because I won the week! Unfortunately there were no Sick Picks this week. The competition is changing...everyone is climbing their way to the top.  So with another week of just 13 games, I'm wondering what will happen next. Only two teams are undefeated, a select few are 4 and 1, and the rest of the teams are hoping that a mediocre or a poor start is about to turn around. Here are the results of week 5!

This is first week for byes, will it make a difference? Will it bring luck to Minnesota, will it straighten out Philly? And what about NE & The Jets a rematch that is sure to draw headlines one way or another. This week, granted there are only 13 games instead of the usual 16... but still, only two people have Sick Picks at two a piece.  What does that mean? Week 4 Turned out to be a decent week. The average score was 10.8 only .1 down from last week , very surprising... I thought this week would have stumped the group.  Renee definitely wasn't stumped and has made her mark winning the week with 13 points. George has become a Sick Pick mogul sustaining 3 out of 4 weeks with a Sick Pick that has turned to two points and was the only Sick Pick winner of week 4.

This week, last year's champ Jerome is back on top with 14 points! Sick Picks didn't work for anyone this week, except for Uncle Ant who picked Buffalo over New England for two points! The average points were 10.9, which is down from last week, and I have a feeling next week might continue the decrease...looks like a tough week coming up! Week 1 - Thursday Results

The Season has begun with high scoring and much excitement...but in the end last year's Champs held the fort. NO 34 GB 42
So for this game the Sick Picks gave out ill will, but hey there is still a whole Sunday, and a game on Monday to make up for it. So as far as today goes, Everyone up 1 except for Jaison and Vanessa!

We have a couple announcements:

Week 1 - Before the Games

Hello All,

We are approaching week 1! So I ask Are You Ready for Some Football?!?!?!?

Picks need to be in by tomorrow, let's have a nice big welcome to this year's players...

Picks will be updated on Wednesday before the big game Thursday!

Taking Players!!! Are You Ready for Some Football!?!?!

Well now that the NFL Season is finally set to go, I guess we are too.  I have set up an NFL game with family and friends for the past three years where each player picks the teams they think will win on a weekly basis. Last year I finally tweaked everything to just about perfection.  So I decided to open the game to more players. 

We will open the game to 10-15 players for the 2011 Season.  First come first serve, so if you are interested shoot me an email @ ruready4somefootball.jw@gmail.com as soon as possible! The game closes to all new members by either September 1st or when we reach 15 players.

Why should you play? Well to me the football season is great whether you play fantasy football or similar games or if you  simply wach games weekly in a relaxed setting.  However, I will admit I get a rush making picks for the winning teams, trash talking, and waking up on a Sunday morning with real excitement and nervous energy...wondering if I got it right this week. 

I only ask that if you decide to play, that you really commit, we don't want anyone dropping out mid season. To play you will subjected to deadlines, you may have to do some research on teams and players to stay competitive, and most likely you will be compelled to watch football on Sundays, Mondays, and some Thursdays and Saturdays.
